Obviously I can’t vouch for the veracity of any of this, but here are some interesting tidbits floating around the web concerning some high-profile genre films that are either in production or rumored to be soon.
- The next Star Wars film (Episode VII) will take place 30 years after Return of the Jedi. It will feature the Skywalker younglings as they fight against a disciple of the Emperor who wants to rebuild the Sith army from the Old Republic.
- The Wolverine (sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine) is going to feature one of the classic Chris Claremont story arcs. Which one? I have no idea; anyone more familiar than I with the comics have a guess?
- There’s a new teaser trailer for Iron Man 3.
- Daniel Cudmore will reprise his role as Colossus in the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past.
- Will Smith is doing a re-imagining of the classic Cold War techno-thriller Colossus: The Forbin Project. [Colossus trifecta in effect!]
- Tom Cruise to star as Napoleon Solo in a Man from U.N.C.L.E. movie? Say it ain’t so…
Movies I’m looking forward to this year:
- GI Joe: Retaliation (shut up– I liked the first one) – Mar 28
- The Lords of Salem – Apr 19
- Iron Man 3 – May 3
- Star Trek Into Darkness (not really looking forward to it so much as will dutifully see it to maintain my Trekkie cred) – May 17
- Monsters University – Jun 21
- The Wolverine – Jul 26
- Riddick – Sep 6
- Ender’s Game – Nov 1
- Thor: The Dark Worlds – Nov 8
- The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug – Dec 13
I believe the Wolverine film is based on this…

I am looking forward to Man of Steel myself.
From Soderberg and Clooney to Richie and Cruise? Nooooooooooo!
I'm all over Thor, Iron Man and Hobbit. The rest, shew, wait and see. Also I too dig G.I. Joe.
Second the info about THE WOLVERINE… it's more or less based on the classic Chris Claremont miniseries (which was also one of the first mini-series in comics), although I am still holding out that it will end being a cross between that miniseries, and the later KITTY PRYDE & WOLVERINE mini, as I thought I heard Kitty was in the new movie.
I also enjoyed G.I. Joe and am looking forward to the second one.
In one post you have doubled the movies I will see this year (at least see in a theater).
It had just been Ironman 3 and Star Trek.
I didn't realize Riddick and Thor were coming out this year.
The rest can wait for Netflix.
