According to Variety those stand-alone “Star Wars” movies are going to be origin story movies, starting in 2016…
[Disney CFO] Rasulo also noted that one “Star Wars” trilogy film or “origin story film” would also appear on the release schedule each year, starting with the seventh installment in the “Star Wars” saga that J.J. Abrams will direct and Disney releases in 2015.
Why does the 21st century seem like its primary reason for exisiting is to rape my childhood memories?
What's the matter? Don't want to see the story of a plucky young Corellian kid who starts as a cabin boy, deserts from the Imperial Navy, and ends up winning his own freighter in a game of sabacc?
Given that Lucas' prequels gratuitously covered a lot of "origin stories", what's left really? Han Solo, as Mr. Bloch mentions… Princess Leia? Chewbacca? Lando Calrissian? R2D2? Grand Moff Tarkin? General Veers?
This isn't looking promising.
Like hell I don't. Those old EU books about Han and Lando were a freaking blast, I'll see movies like that any day of the week.
I'm hoping to see Ben Affleck as a young Jar Jar.
Kill the franchise, put the money towards something new.
Beat on the street is that the first two are Yoda and Boba Fett.
They are not doing background stories of main main chars.
The new animated series about the birth of the rebellion will do that.
Why can't Hollywood make something goddamn original. Why keep rehashing the same old shit.
I'd love a new Star Wars movie…if it featured new characters. Quit with the f'ing fan-service!
"When nineteen years old you be, look as good you will not…"
Yoda on a first date, Yoda's first kiss, a good buddy who is a wacky alien companion for comic relief,… aaaarrrgh.
oh yeah, and all his friends die and he learns to be brave and lead the J'di (named after his dead girlfriend).
Sorry, I may have gotten a but sarky on that last one.
