The so-objectionable-it-couldn’t-be-sold-by-DriveThruStuff Gamergate: The Card Game came today. Obviously I haven’t had a chance to play it, but on its face, having skimmed through the cards, it seems a cute little bit of sarcastic social commentary that skewers the participants on both sides of the larger Gamergate controversy. Perhaps that’s the game’s greatest offense in some peoples’ eyes; it makes fun of both sides, which I guess makes it worse than a game about child rape.
The cards, at least, seem reminiscent of Illuminati (which is somewhat ironic, given that Steve Jackson Games also reportedly banned it).
Looking forward to taking this for a spin.

The thing that is amazing to me is how innocuous it is compared to a lot of the stuff that is NOT banned from Onebookshelf.
I wonder if these bannings opens up the marketplace to another online outlet for games.

Game looks pretty cut and dried. I think it was the threat of what the SJWs (aka Outrage Brigade / Puritans 2.0) would do in the blogosphere if they had not taken the cards down from the site. These score about a 1 out of 10 on the "might offend someone scale". And where's this "violence" Mr. Wieck mentions?
I agree 100%, cirsova. I OWN some of those objectionable products and I would not want somebody who doesn't "get" the hobby to find and peruse some of them. Off the top of my head, I can think of about a dozen old Vampire splatbooks that depict, among other things, the making of a snuff film, brutal torture, and murder (all by the protagonists of the game!) This is nothing by comparison…which leads to the only possible conclusion: OBS knuckled under to people like Fred Hicks because they don't want to lose the revenue from selling Evil hat products, and the people like Hicks only objected to the game because they flat-out don't like Desborough. It's asinine. I wish these SJWs would find somebody else to bother and leave our hobby the hell alone.
Card games are scary. I'd hate to see how they react to Go Fish, Crazy (I mean "differently sane") Eights, or (heaven forbid) Old Maid (that's a two-fer).
